TOP FREE #2 App ideas, take 1. Action! 🎬 💥

In the first Nabob newsletter we shared some curious SaaS that billed a few million $$$ and in
this second newsletter we talked about… App ideas!

Every time someone writes “APP”, even in all caps, a kitten dies. Are you a cat killer?

No, right? 🙀 🙀 🙀

(Mobile) apps were born in 2007 when Apple launched the iPhone and the first version of its App
Store and since then they have become a hundreds of billions of dollars industry that grows (a
lot) every year. Read again: “hundreds of billions of dollars.” Not bad, right?

Hold onto your chair because today at TOP we talk about software ideas for mobile devices;
Today we talk about app ideas.

Idea #1. Tasks: to do list & tasks

This is a simple to-do list and reminder mobile app with a calendar. To organize better. Never
forget that, as Edmund Burke said:

“Good order is the basis of all things.”

Data:

How could you replicate this idea (MVP)

You could launch an MVP with the minimum at the product and monetization level (Paywall +
Ads) and test some paid marketing channels with a low budget (Facebook Ads, IG Ads, Google
Ads), in addition to doing ASO – especially AB testing in the store listing – to reduce CAC
(Customer Acquisition Cost).

The key is, as always, to fine-tune acquisition, paywall and pricing and then, little by little, increase investment and its return. Organic traffic could be achieved in the app stores, but this would be in the medium-long term.

What is a paywall in a subscription app?

A paywall is a system that restricts access to content to users who do not have a paid subscription.

To end

This is a good “simple” app business idea that would have a place on Google Play and the App Store. There is an audience willing to pay for such a product/service.

In addition, you can always monetize with advertising as well.

“Good order is the basis of all things.”

Idea #2. Teleprompter & video captions

An app that records video with the mobile’s front camera and at the same time shows text to the
person being recorded. Ideal for influencers or content creators who record videos with their
mobile and don’t want/don’t dare to improvise.

Data:

It would never have occurred to me… But apparently, many video content creators who record
with their smartphones use “teleprompters.” And it is something in demand… I’m not saying it,
the SEO tool Semrush says it:

A teleprompter is software that displays text on the screen so that the person being recorded
can read it while looking at the camera. The same thing news anchors do! Curious…

How could you replicate this idea (MVP)

As far as I know (maybe I’m wrong), this is not something that can be built with NoCode, so to
build the MVP of a project like this would require a developer, at most a couple.

If a business-optimized MVP can be generated relatively quickly, there may be a good scalable
business opportunity with paid marketing. Much to my regret, depending on the themes, the
ASO is no longer what it was…

To end

The key, as always, is innovation and “thinking outside the box.” Something we really like at
Nabob. There is a market, without a doubt. And the more the content creator industry grows,
the bigger the market will be.

Idea #3. Pixomatic – Background eraser

An app to edit photos and remove the background from images with AI. With the resulting PNG
(transparent background) you can generate stickers for different social networks.

Or you can simply change the background. Have you never been to the Maldives or Mars? No problem, with this app you can say that you have been.

Data:

Photography editing (just like video editing) can be good business.

Especially when we talk about users who are 100% mobile and require retouching, modifying,
improving, etc. images to share or publish on any of the available social networks. We are talking
about a GIGANTIC audience and, therefore, a very good business opportunity. If done well, of
course.

How could you replicate this idea (MVP)

Most likely you can get an API for removing image backgrounds with AI (Artificial Intelligence)
and/or a service or similar (paid or free) that allows us to create our own app, as an MVP, for
photo editing, launch it in stores, invest a little and see what happens. Agility is always essential.

At a technical level, it requires a front-end (the mobile app itself) and a back-end, in which all
operations, image saving, etc. will be executed. At least I would do it that way. Come on, nothing
out of this world.

To end

The version of Pixomatic for iPhone in the App Store generates, according to the App Intelligence
Sensor Tower tool, $300,000 / month with subscriptions ($3,600,000 / year).

🔥 🔥 🔥 Bad tongues say that the B2C subscription business in apps works much better on iOS than on Android…
